Our Story

Darlington began during founder Michael Darlington’s time living in Venice, where the glassmaking tradition of nearby Murano became a source of fascination. The first collection draws inspiration from ancient Roman vessels, reimagining their forms as glassware for contemporary life.

Each piece is made on Murano, known as “the Glass Island,” by a family workshop run by four brothers. They began their practice in 1997, having learned the delicate art of working with borosilicate glass from their father. The material’s lightness and clarity give the glasses a delicate feel while making them suited to everyday use.

Every glass is blown by hand. Subtle variations in form give each piece its own character and reveal the hand of its maker. Every glass is etched with “Darlington Murano” on its base, marking its origin and connection to the island’s glassmaking tradition.
